Ages: All
Max Participants: 15

This tour is for kayakers of all ages! On this tour, you’ll often experience calmer waters, depending on the tides and weather. If you’re looking for calmer, glassy waters, we recommend that you book during the early morning or evening hours. Keep in mind that the waters are somewhat unpredictable. Our Kure Beach guided kayak tours are focused on sight-seeing and exploring, so we’ll stop several times throughout our journey so that you can explore on foot!  So don’t worry, this isn’t three hours of intense paddling!

Zeke's Island Nature Tour and Fort Fisher Basin

Cost: $55 Per Person
Duration: 3 Hours
Ages: All
Max Participants: 15

The nature tour ventures out into the flat water of the Fort Fisher basin where there is little or no boat traffic, perfect for kayakers. This salt marsh is 8,000 acres and part of the Colonial Water Birds Nesting Area and the National Estuarine Research Reserve, so it has quite a diversity of bird, marine, and plant life. Your guide is very knowledgeable about the wild life and the history of the area providing a unique nature experience you can only get in a kayak. This is a great tour for kayakers at all levels of experience. You can usually expect smooth, calm waters during this time, with often low tides.

Cost: $55 Per Person
Duration: 2.5 Hours
Ages: All
Max Participants: 15

On this tour, you’ll make your way through the calm, glassy, glistening waters along Zeke’s Island. Paddling through the waters at this time is often very minimal effort, so great for relaxation and enjoying the sights. Oftentimes the moon will still be out, and in the event of a full moon, you may even catch a glimpse of it setting as the sun rises. There’s a reason that this tour is a favorite among our guides! You can also expect to see various kinds of birds, fish, and turtles, all dependent on what nature allows!

Shark's Tooth Island

[As of 9/16/21, New Hanover County has banned commercial kayak activity on this tour’s launch point area. We are working to rectify this issue and will have more information soon.]

This small island in the Cape Fear River in Wilmington, North Carolina, is one of the best places to search for real shark teeth, fossils, and similar artifacts! Located between Carolina Beach and Wilmington, North Carolina, this island on the river holds some of the coolest natural artifacts you’ll find in the area. Kayaking in this area of the Cape Fear River is great for kayakers of all ages because it’s relatively shallow waters, a light paddle, and we stop and get out on foot on Sharks Tooth Island, Keg Island, and a few of the dot islands nearby!

Masonboro Island is a beautiful, hidden treasure right in front of us between Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach. On this tour, we paddle to the backside of Masonboro Island and then walk on a foot path over to a place where the group can go beach combing, waving, and shelling. You can expect this tour to go at a very relaxed pace with a mixture of paddling and on-foot exploration. While this tour does have a bit more paddling than other tours of ours, it’s not strenuous because the waters are very calm.
