Our Founder

Kayak Carolina was founded on November 20, 1998 the day Angela finished a 300 mile plus kayak expedition of the North Carolina and Outer Banks coast, starting at Virginia Beach, VA and finishing in Carolina Beach, NC.

Our guides are trained interpretive naturalists and certified instructors by the American Canoe Association. All guides are first-aid certified in Wilderness First-Aid and CPR. We have over 30 years combined experience in teaching, kayaking and the paddle sports industry. We are skilled, knowledgeable, safety-oriented, courteous and fun. The beautiful waters, marsh and secluded sandy beaches of the Carolinas are our backdrop as we teach you the easy how to steps of kayaking. No experience is necessary, so start your kayaking adventure today.

Angela Marshall, Co-Owner and Operator of Kayak Carolina In November of 1998 she paddled the coast of North Carolina from Virginia Beach to Wilmington, an Outer Banks Expedition that explored the inside coasts of the Outer Banks and kayak camped all along the way. Angela enjoys all types of kayaking: touring, sea, surf, white water as well as wildlife and bird watching “As long as I’m out on the water, I’m happy!”

Angela enjoys introducing sheer beginners to the sport of kayaking. Kayaking can be what you want it to be: a relaxing drift with the tide, a chance to explore a serene environment, sharing creek space with an egret, a non-impact all body workout, anything you feel like! “I find that kayaking helps people therapeutically gain self-confidence with a sense of well-being and accomplishment. You can learn kayaking in simple steps that build upon each other. I like to see students get excited about kayaking, just as I did my first time.”

Angela Marshall is the owner and operator of Kayak Carolina, a premier kayak tour and instruction operation, based in Wilmington and Carolina Beach, NC, established in 1998.
